Our Story
Lonestar Picture car started on a fluke after car/bus/firetruck collector, Donnie Dye, discovered that his hobby of purchasing unusual cars from auctions could be used to assist the film industry. As an Austin native, Donnie has always walked side by side the creatives that make up the Lonestar Capital city. In 2018 Donnie crossed paths with a friend in the film industry who had a beefed-up ambulance he was renting out to a television show and an idea was born. At the time Donnie already owned an army truck, two firetrucks, several classic cars and a city bus and he quickly recognized that his obsessive hobby of collecting large/unusual vehicles could be fruitful.
Since 2018, Donnie has amped up his collection of vehicles to include school buses, prison buses, police vehicles, classic cars and more. He is constantly on the look out for vehicles that may be in high demand for the film industry and hopes to be able to provide some niche vehicles for various productions.
When the vehicles are not rented out, Donnie will often bring some of the more exotic vehicles to children's birthday parties. This is a service he started on lock-down when young children could no longer have their friends over for a birthday party. He would drive by in a firetruck, with birthday banners and a possible My Little Pony or Spiderman on top of the truck to bring joy to these young neighbors. These vehicles are available to provide entertainment to those big and small.
